April 3rd Sunday: Credit Union of Ireland School Quiz. National Final

Ultimate Big Brother champion Brian Dowling joined the Irish League of Credit Unions yesterday (Sunday 3rd April 2011) (ILCU) at the RDS in Dublin to host the special 20th Anniversary Credit Union All Ireland Schools Quiz. Over 400 primary school children from across the country competed for the national title.

The annual event, now in its 20th year, was run throughout the winter months in communities all over Ireland by volunteers from ILCU affiliated credit unions. The Quiz has become the highlight of the school calendar, attracting over 25,000 participants in over 300 venues throughout the 32 counties in the lead up to the national finals.

Speaking at the event, Quiz Master Brian Dowling said: Everyone, including me, had so much fun yesterday! The RDS was packed and you could see that all of the teams had been working really hard to prepare for this. It was really exciting being involved in the Quiz, I enjoyed every minute of it!

April 2011: Race for Life video.

To celebrate a decade of support for Tesco and Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, Tesco has teamed up with a host of famous faces to encourage one million women to sign up to this year’s event series.

An inspiring video, starring Race for Life ambassador Paula Radcliffe and celebrity supporters Kate Walsh, Linda Barker, Jeff Brazier, Brian Dowling, Nell McAndrew and Fay Ripley has been released today to spur on as many women as possible to walk, jog or run 5k at their local Race for Life event.
