Children’s TV presenter Brian Dowling is being lined up to front his own Graham Norton – style chat show.
The camp star, who shot to fame in Big Brother, is in negotiations to present a late-night programme on ITV. “There are loads of things in the pipeline but there is one in particular that I’m exited about,” he said yesterday.
“There’s talk of me fronting a chat show, which would be totally amazing. I don’t want to be seen as the new Graham Norton because I wouldn’t be like him at all, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t want to be as successful.”
Brian, 25, who announced in June that he is to quit the Saturday morning children’s show SM:tv also told of plans to launch an acting career.
He admitted it is his dream to play “some sort of diva” but said he is concentrating on presenting roles.
The Irish-born star, who hosts ITV makeover show Brian’s Boyfriends and is the voice of Channel 4 reality show The Salon, started out as an airline flight attendant.
He won the hearts of the nation when he starred alongside Helen Adams and Paul Clarke in 2001’s Big brother 2.
SM:tv which had been overtaken in the ratings by BBC1 rival The Saturday Show, is to be scrapped at the end of the year.
