After threatening to leave the show on numerous occasions Jim Davidson has this time walked out of the door of Hell's Kitchen after making more homophobic comments.
Following the departure of Kelly last night after she received the least vote Jim remarked to Brian and Paul that he thought he’d been given a funny look by a table of diners. saying, “Why do shirt-lifters pull that same face?”
Brian was shocked to hear another homophobic comment from Jim and said "Please don’t say shirt-lifters, it’s really rude.” “I don’t care,” Jim insisted. "Some gay men have the same look.” At that point Brian challenged Jim asking, “What look? Do I do have that look?” Jim responded by saying “No, only when you put it on,” “It’s a sort of preen.”
Later that night things came to a head again when Brian asked Jim to explain himself. Even though earlier in the week Jim himself admitted he was 'An homophobic a***hole', he claimed Brian was playing the homophobic card.
Brian asked Jim how he could say that to him when he was sitting right beside him, "I am an equal to you Jim, in everything we have ever done “Sure – that’s what GAY stands for,” Jim sneered. ‘Good As You’. I know that.
“Jim don’t say that,” Brian protested. “Jim, I am Brian – not ‘Good As You’. I am an equal to you. You are being really, really horrible to me now …Why can’t I be Brian and you be Jim?” Abbi and Adele tried to walk Brian away but Brian stood his ground saying“I won’t walk away. I won’t be as Good As You. I will be BTY – Better Than You.”
At last Brian may be able to get back to enjoying this final week in the kitchen without being made to feel uncomfortable. They may be a man down in the kitchen but the morale now after his departure should surely compensate. It may not be the Waltons under pressure in the kitchen but at least everyone should now be pulling as a team.
Fans were enraged last night watching the second edition of Hell's Kitchen after witnessing a heated debate between Brian and fellow team-member Jim Davidson.
Concern arose from fans after Davidson's initial jibes towards Brian's appearance on Big Brother being the initial stepping stone to his successful TV career, however Davidson's cold approach towards Brian took an even more unacceptable turn when he openly admitted to Brian he was a 'homophobic a**ehole.'
The discussion began in the garden area last night, as Jim (who was drinking a glass of wine at the time), if Brian 'wants a beer?', to which Brian replied: "No thank you, I think I'll stick with my juice!"
The conversation moved on to sleeping arrangements to which Jim questioned whose "side" he was sleeping on, after incorrectly presuming he was boarding with the girls. "Are you on our side?", Jim asked. Adele responded in Brian's favour, "Of course he is, why wouldn't he be?". Equally confused by Jim's inquisition Brian also asked: "Why wouldn't I be?" to which Jim rudely responded: "Ooh let me think..." sarcastically in a mimicking tone, which is believed to have been a mock of Brian's voice.
As Brian and Adele attempted to explain the actual dynamic of the sleeping arrangements, Jim went on to question the production teams decision to assign Brian the role of working on the desserts: "Why do you think they have put you on cakes?", asked the 'comedian' insinuating that Brian's sexuality may have been considered when making the decision. "I don't know to be honest, I just think it's because they know I don't have a single clue when it comes to things like this." Brian explained.
In the Wine Cellar, Brian talked in his video diary about how he was confused by Jim's remarks and worried that they were leading him to feel 'over-paranoid.' Talking with Adele later in the evening, she attempted to justify Jim's logic: "I think he might just be old fashioned." To which Brian replied: "I know, I know, but there's old fashioned and... well you know, because of everything, you shouldn't be like that because it can actually be quite upsetting. I'm not upset about it, because you know, it doesn't really happen to me. I mean, it's not a big deal, but I feel that's just ridiculous."
Brian faced further criticism as Jim later questioned his thoughts on why the producers will have chosen Jim and Brian to work together on the same team: "I mean, what do you think, you've done this reality sh*t before, haven't you?" he asked. "Why do you think they would do it - to put me and you together, so you hate me, because I'm a homophobic a**ehole."
"I wouldn't say hate," Brian replied before the discussion came to a close.
Brian’s first nervous meeting with the very formidable Pierre Marco White didn’t exactly go smoothly; in fact very few of the new intake of celebrity chefs were greeted warmly by the great man, but Brian came over very polite and respectful.
The new recruits were asked to prepare an eggs dish to assess their culinary skills. Brian was not in any way the only chef to receive scathing remarks, Brian for his effort of an omelette was told it would make a good sponge for mopping up. (Video clip available in our gallery).
Very nervously it was down to business; donning his chef’s whites with blue hat as part of the boys team Brian scanned the menu for the evening. When it came to pig’s trotters Brian asked if he could meet the diners who were prepared to eat “a pig’s foot that had walked around in sh*t”
Brian was assigned to the pudding section and asked to help out any chef that needed him. Both teams managed to serve all the diners in the restaurant and when the Maitre De read out comments from the diners at the end of the night Brian was praised by one for his pudding resulting in a ruffling of his hair by a fellow trainee chef.
All in all it was a good start for Brian, at times you wanted to give him a hug because he looked so scared, but I am sure he will settle down and his confidence grow.
